Join the fun on the water with the third-annual Halloween Paddle Parade at the Onset Bay Center! This free, family-friendly event takes place on Sunday, October 27th, starting at 3:00 PM, and invites community members of all ages to participate. Dress up in your most creative or spooky Halloween costume and paddle with your friends and family around Wickets Island, guided by Onset Bay Center staff.
The event is open to all, and participants can either bring their own kayaks, paddleboards, or other paddle craft, or they can borrow equipment from the Onset Bay Center. With options like single sit-on-top kayaks, double kayaks (for 2-3 people), canoes (up to 3 people), and even a giant paddleboard (for up to 10 people), there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Space is limited, so pre-registration is required for anyone wishing to use the center’s equipment. Don’t miss your chance to paddle with friends and enjoy the festive atmosphere on the water!
While this is a guided paddle, it is not a lesson, so participants should feel comfortable on the water in their selected craft. Personal flotation devices (PFDs) are required for all paddlers while on the water. The Onset Bay Center will provide PFDs for those who need them.
Spectators are encouraged to watch the parade from the beach or pier as participants in their Halloween costumes paddle around the bay. This event is the perfect way to enjoy the fall weather while celebrating Halloween with the community. Whether you’re on the water or cheering from the shore, it’s sure to be a memorable day!
Thanks to funding from the Wareham Cultural Council, this event is free and open to the public. However, spots are limited, so be sure to register early to secure your place.
