A Vision for Wareham’s Future

The Wareham Redevelopment Authority (WRA) fosters the long-term vitality and sustainability of our town through thoughtful planning and community-driven initiatives. We honor Wareham’s rich history while promoting innovation for a brighter future. Collaboration is at the heart of our mission—we actively engage with residents, businesses, and stakeholders to ensure development meets the community’s needs. Our work focuses on revitalizing underutilized areas, supporting local businesses, enhancing public spaces, and protecting Wareham’s natural beauty, including our coastal landscapes and green spaces. We aim to preserve the environment while boosting the town’s appeal as a destination for residents and visitors alike. Economic development is a key priority, as we strive to create jobs, attract investment, and support businesses that align with Wareham’s values. We also prioritize improving infrastructure, expanding affordable housing, and ensuring equitable opportunities for all residents. The WRA works to build a vibrant, resilient future for Wareham.

Near-Term Priorities

Focus on revitalizing the downtown through an Urban Renewal Plan. Key areas of opportunity include high-density rental housing, additional retail, restaurants, and office space.

Enhance infrastructure and encourage private property reinvestment to build on its status as a desirable destination. Improvement efforts will target maintaining its appeal while driving further development.

Support further development in the industrial parks by focusing on physical improvements, which respond to strong market demand for additional industrial and flex space.

Redevelop auto-oriented commercial strips by improving the business environment with better access, zoning changes, and aesthetic enhancements like median plantings.

We invite all Wareham residents to actively shape the future of our town by attending our public meetings. The Wareham Redevelopment Authority (WRA) meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at Town Hall, room 27, from 9 am to 11 am. For more information and to stay updated on our projects, please visit the Redevelopment Authority board on the town website. We look forward to seeing you there!
