On Friday, October 25th, the Gleason Family YMCA will be hosting the Full Plate Project as part of an ongoing effort to address the increasing need for access to healthy, affordable food in our community. This free program, run in partnership with the Greater Boston Food Bank and YMCA Southcoast, provides essential groceries to South Coast residents during difficult economic times.
From 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, all South Coast residents are welcome to visit the drive-through community market located at the Gleason Family YMCA, 33 Charge Pond Rd, Wareham, MA. You do not need to be a YMCA member to participate, and no registration is required. Groceries are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, with no photo ID required. Participants will simply be asked to provide basic information, including their zip code and the number of people in their household.
The groceries provided include a variety of nonperishable items, as well as fresh produce and meats when available. Items vary depending on availability, so each visit to the market may offer different food options. The Y Community Markets typically last until food runs out, so it’s recommended to arrive early.
Participants are asked to wear a mask while interacting with volunteers. The YMCA is dedicated to ensuring that all residents in the community have access to nutritious food, especially during challenging times.
